Originally from the North Moluccas archipelago in Indonesia, the clove tree is a tree that can reach 15 meters in height. It was introduced to Europe by the Arabs in the 4th century.
Clove essential oil is obtained by distillation from the unopened flower bud (nail) whose essential oil content is very high (15 to 20%). This process consists of removing the volatile constituents (essential oil) of the crushed cloves with the steam. Then, the steam condenses in the essence, separating the essential oils from the hydrosol (water). Its characteristic smell is reminiscent of dentists' offices.

At the botanical level , this indicates that are identified:

At the biochemical level , the chemotype of the plant is entirely defined thanks to a chromatography (laboratory analysis of the substances present) carried out for each new batch of essential oil.
