Canephron®
Product description
Canephron is a drug for adults and children over 12 years of age, which is used as an adjunct in the treatment of mild inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract. The drug can also be used preventively in the deposition of kidney sand.
Canephron is a traditional herbal medicinal product in the form of sugar-coated tablets. It has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anti-adhesive and diuretic properties*.

Composition
1 tablet contains:
active substances: 18 mg Levisticum officinale Koch, radix (lovage root), 18 mg Centaurium erythraea Rafn s. l. including C. majas (H. et L.) Zeltner and C.suffruticosum (Griseb.) Ronn. (syn. Erythraea centaurium Persoon; C. umbellatum Gilibert; C. minus Gars.), herba (centuria herb), 18 mg Rosmarinus officinalis L., folium (rosemary leaf).
other ingredients: calcium carbonate , castor oil of the first pressing, dextrin, dyes: red iron oxide (E 172), riboflavin (E 101), titanium dioxide (E 171), a i=7>glucose liquid (dry substance), lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, corn starch, Montana glycol wax, Povidone K 25, Povidone K 30, shellac, colloidal anhydrous silica, sucrose, talc .
Action
Supporting the treatment of mild inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract and preventing the deposition of kidney sand.
Dosage
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 2 tablets 3 times a day (maximum daily dose is 6 tablets).
The tablets should be swallowed whole with a small amount of water.
It is recommended to drink an increased amount of fluids while using the drug.
The medicine can be used for up to four weeks (after three weeks, consult your doctor).
Treatment with Canephron may be repeated in patients who have not had a recurrence of a urinary tract infection within 3 months of previous treatment.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve after approximately 7 days, contact your doctor.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to active substances, other plants from the Apiaceae family (e.g. anise, fennel), anethole (component of essential oils e.g. anise) or celery) or to any of the excipients.
If you have stomach ulcers.
If you have swelling due to heart or kidney problems and/or if your doctor has told you to reduce your fluid intake.
Storage
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. The medicine does not require special storage conditions.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
If you notice any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any side effects not listed in this leaflet.
Common (more than 1 in 100 but less than 1 in 10 patients):gastrointestinal disorders, e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea occur frequently.
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):immune system disorders: hypersensitivity/allergic reactions.
Interactions
There are no known interactions of Canephron with other medications.
Please tell your doctor about all medicines you have recently taken, including those obtained without a prescription.
Warnings and precautions
If you have persistent fever, cramps, blood in your urine, difficulty urinating, or acute urinary retention, consult your doctor immediately.
The medicine contains glucose, lactose and sucrose: (1 tablet contains approximately 0.2 g of easily digestible carbohydrates). If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
Pregnancy and breastfeedingFor safety reasons, the use of the drug should be avoided during pregnancy.
You should not use the medicine while breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machinesNo special contraindications.
